I love my dogs so much I can`t even put it into words. They are the first thing I see when I wake up and they immediately put a smile on my face, even when it is 7 am on a Sunday morning (like today, Isa woke me up bright & early). Katie immediately rolls over for a belly rub and Isa rests her face on yours to tell you she needs to go out. I was never a dog person, always a cat lady, but since I got Katie just over 2 years ago, I now have a new found LOVE for dogs. They are all so unique and different and so smart (well mine are anyway!). Isa joined our family last September and we could not imagine not having her. We are sooo grateful to her previous owner for making the hard decision to give her to us. Katie and Isa are typical sisters, they get along most of the time, but do have their moments. The other day they did get into a decent fight over food requiring me to spray them with water to split them up. Don't worry, Isa only sustained a little scratch and I couldn't find any battle wounds on Katie.
Katie and Isa are so different from eachother.
Isa- aka: Piecer (her nickname from her previous home, we have no clue where it came from but Isa really likes it!), piecy, Isa-Belle, Isa-Marie (Jared and I couldn't agree on a middle name and so thus she has 2 depending on which parent is calling her), the red one, the big one, and sweet pea (we like nicknames can you tell?)
Isa is more layed back and relaxed. Loves to burrow and sleep and if she hears a noise won`t be bothered to get up and see what it is. She is just so sweet! The only time she gets to be a bit `bitchy` is when it comes to food. She loves food and finishes all her meals way before Katie and then stalks Katie hoping she will leave some for her. She is the burrower, absolutely LOVES to be under blankets and burrows in the sleeves of your shirts and housecoat. She is the sensitive one, doesn't like loud noises or raised voices. She truly is the sweetest little girl.
Katie - aka: Katherine-Annabelle, Katie-pie, Annie, Annabelle, the black one, and now the little one (Isa was coined this name until she ate herself into obesity).
Katie is the strong stubborn one (a very distinct characteristic of dachshunds). She knows what she wants and will not relax until she gets it. She is nosy, needs to know what is going on 100% of the time. If there is noise at the door or outside, she will be trying to check it out. She is more active, sleeps less than Isa and LOVES to play fetch (Isa doesn't quite get that concept). Katie is the smarter of the two (afterall she is an educated dog, having graduated from both kindergarden and grade 1). She knows how to play dead, roll over, shake hands, wave hi, sit, lay down, stand up, speak, sing...the list goes on). She knows english pretty darn well and I swear understands almost everything I say!
My dogs really are my life and put a smile on my face EVERY-SINGLE-DAY. Anyway, I was in the mood to write about my little girls, I hope I didn't bore you too much. I will post pictures of Katie soon, she wasn't in the mood today.
